May camps update:

Even with the ski season still in full swing, I cant help but notice the signs of spring around me. Snowdrops sprouting in Vancouver, the garden blooming already in Victoria (my apologies to the rest of Canada ;-))!

Snow, snow, beautiful snow!

Yesterday I went with a friend to do a longer ski at Whistler Olympic park in the Callaghan Valley. The plan was to ski some good km's on the trails for the upcoming Payak Loppet (February 23). I've registered for the 50k again, as it seems I've bizarrely forgotten how hard it was last year!

For what it's worth I think this video below was perhaps one of the more "useful" things to come out of the recent Lance/Oprah PR spectacle.

But seriously...what are the lessons from this story? I suppose there are many depending on your point of view. This was (is) one incredibly complex tale.

This past Sunday I joined up with a couple of riders from the Trek Red Tuck Cycling Team and Women's Team manager Ann Yew for some winter cross training on the nordic trails at Callaghan Country.

I was fortunate this Christmas holiday period to have had ample time to enjoy recreating in the Sea to Sky corridor: Cypress Mountain, The Callaghan Valley and Whistler. It's been great so see so many people out enjoying their holidays in an active way in our wonderful local environment. A high pressure system graced us with its presence for a good stretch clear weather. Made it wonderful to enjoy some wintertime sleepouts (one with my nephew - his first night in a tent ;-)) and get some lovely photos too. Click on "photography" tab and see 'YVR and Island' for some new additions like the ones below. Enjoy!

Happy New Year!

What a way to see in the new year! With the great weather and clear skies in the forecast, chose to hike up to Hollyburn Peak here in West Vancouver last night. Pretty big moon so the natural light and abundant snow made for some special views. Thanks to the fellows who hiked up with 2 bundles of wood and made the fire up top. In my opinion the perfect new years eve party ;-)
